Privacy Policy

Saye is a place to send someone a letter, words you never found the right moment to say. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. We keep it short because we collect little.

What we collect

• Your phone number, to sign you in.
• The letters and replies you write, and the name of the person each letter is for.
• Basic technical information needed to run the app reliably and keep it safe.

How we use it

We use this information only to operate Saye: to verify your number, show you your inbox, and keep the service working and safe. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own advertising or marketing.

Your letters are public

Saye is a public place to read letters. The letters and replies you write (along with the first name each is addressed to and its scene) are shown to others both in the app and on the web at saye.social, where they can be read without an account. This is always anonymous: we never attach your name, phone number, or account to a letter you write unless you choose to reveal it. By using Saye, you consent to your letters being published and readable on the web and in the app. Your account details (your phone number and who you are) stay private and are never shown with your letters.

Text messages

We send you a text message with a one-time code to sign you in. Message and data rates may apply. Your phone number is never shared with third parties for marketing.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the app, such as hosting and message delivery. They may process information only as needed to provide those services to us, and are not permitted to use it for anything else.

Cookies

If you write a letter on the web without an account, we store one small cookie in your browser called saye_claim. It holds a random claim code for your device, so you can later enter that code in the app to claim those letters and see who is reading them. It is not used for tracking or advertising, and it is never shared with anyone. If you clear it, we simply issue a new code the next time you write, and any letters tied to the old code stay under it. We use no other cookies for analytics or advertising.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep information only as long as needed to provide Saye. You can remove any letter at any time from the app. This takes it down from both the app and the web. You can also delete your account, which removes your information from the app. Copies other people saved, or that search engines cached, may persist outside our control.
